Going green

Jared decided this week that we, being a sadly un-green family, shall convert our evil non-recycling ways and come into the light. So he told Ashley that we were going to recycle our CANS?!? Ok so, yes we should start small so that we don't relapse back into our trash tossing ways, but I think we can do better than that. So I decided to take up the mission myself ( considering that J and A's recycling consisted of leaving the items on the counter until there is no more room then saying "Hey, guess it's time to take them out!")I, being the clean freak that I am, can not allow that to happen any more lol

I ask Ashley if she understands why we should recycle, why its important and if she knows how to tell if something can be recycled or not (anytime you can throw in a little education is always good).
So she says very matter of factly that of course she knows: We recycle CANS to get $$$$$, daddy told her so!!!!

I had to laugh at this little minor misconception of what the bigger picture is... So I carefully explained why we really recycle and that yes there is a monetary gain, but thats not the point. :) Then I showed her how to tell if someting can be recycled, for about 3 hours I couldnt throw anything in the garbage without having Ash check for the symbol. I was sure she was super stoked on the important lesson that I had taught her and sure that it would stick...but it's funny, Our trash suddenly is full again and somehow Im the only one recycling. hmmm??? I guess it was just a fad...

Hogwarts Mania

So this is offcially my first blog entry :) Yay for me hahaha. We've been very busy getting ready for Ashley's 5th birthday. She is really into Harry Potter right now, so hence the theme for her party. This year I swore that we were going to forgo the theme, but she really really wanted it...hahaha you can just call me sucker.

Anyhow, Im super excited about the party, we're going to have a sorting ceremony (for those of you who do not know what that is be sure to get a copy of Harry Potter and the sorcerers stone it will explain everything) with talking sorting hat and all. I found one on Ebay- yay for ebay! The we have the bertie bot beans and chocolate frogs-yummy!

I actually think I might be more excited than Ashley...Its like this every year though...I stress wanting it to be perfect and in the end it doesnt even matter the kids have a great time any ways. Not only that but I stress myself out and no matter what something always goes wrong...SO here's to the things that will inevitably go wrong--Bring it on!
